Biophysical studies of blood plasma proteins; electrophoretic studies of the blood serum proteins of some lower animals.
The blood serum (1) and plasma (2) proteins of various relatively easily accessible animals have been studied previously by the electrophoretic technique. The serum proteins of each species were found to give characteristic species variations in mobility, amount, and number of protein components. An electrophoretic study of the blood serum proteins of various animals of relatively lower phyloge...
متن کاملSerum Adenosine Deaminase Activity in Domestic Animals: Reference Values
This study was aimed to determine normal serum adenosine deaminase (ADA) activity in domestic animals in both sexes and that were considered healthy on the basis of clinical and laboratory examinations. In this study, 262 non-pregnant animals of both sexes, belonging to 5 species [cattle (n = 50), sheep (n = 65), goat (n = 52), dog (n = 55), and cat (n = 40)] were used. Serum total ADA and ADA1...
متن کاملQuantitative electrophoresis of serum proteins on paper.
CONSIDERABLE NUMBER OF STUDIES devoted to the quantitative evaluation of paper-electrophoretic patterns have left doubt as to the value of the method as an accurate quantitative procedure. Some workers feel that paper electrophoresis cannot be expected to equal the reproducibility of the moving-boundary technic by virtue of its relative crudeness as compared with the sensitive nature of refract...
متن کاملPaper electrophoresis of serum proteins in children.
Since the description of paper electrophoresis in 1950 by Cremer and Tiselius and by Durrum among others, considerable interest has been shown in this cheap and relatively quick method of separating the various protein fractions. The serum proteins move through the fine cellulose mesh of the paper under the influence of an electric current, the separation of the various fractions being brought ...
متن کاملBINDING OF NAPROXEN TO SERUM PROTEINS IN PATIENTS WITH LIVER CIRRHOSIS AND HEALTHY INDIVIDUALS
A three-fold decrease of the in vitro ability of serum proteins to bind naproxen was shown in patients with cirrhosis of the liver compared to healthy individuals. This decrease was caused by quantitative changes in serum proteins in the sera of patients with liver damage. Lower doses of naproxen are therefore suggested in the treatment of patients with liver dysfunction.
